There's nothing quite like summertime in Durham Region—especially when it means fresh-picked blueberries, local farms, and bringing the community together to celebrate agriculture.
Recently, Durham Tourism, Durham Farm Connections, and Durham Farm Fresh teamed up with local culinary expert Chef Alex Page at Pingle's Farm Market for a special agricultural event celebrating everything that makes Durham's farming community so unique. Together, we showcased the incredible flavours and experiences that can only be found right here in Durham Region.

A Celebration of Blueberries
The star of the day? You guessed it—blueberries!
With blueberry season in full swing, Chef Alex Page created a fresh and vibrant Blueberry Wild Rice Salad, highlighting one of Durham Region's favourite summer crops. The recipe perfectly balanced sweet local blueberries with wholesome ingredients, proving that fresh, seasonal produce can transform a simple dish into something extraordinary.
Visitors had the opportunity to watch Chef Alex demonstrate how easy it is to incorporate local ingredients into everyday cooking while sampling the delicious recipe.
