On Thursday, October 10th, the Barrett Centre at Durham College opened its doors for its last Fall Open House for 2024 that brought together innovation, sustainability, and delicious flavors. The Barrett Centre showcases how modern practices can transform urban agriculture, focusing on sustainability, local food production, and education.
Thanks to a unique culinary activation by our very own Demo Kitchen. With support from Durham Tourism and Durham Farm Fresh, guests had the privilege of seeing renowned Chef Alex Page in action.
A Culinary Experience to Remember
Chef Alex treated attendees to a live demo, preparing a Spicy Thai-inspired Carrot Soup using fresh ingredients harvested straight from the Barrett Centre's own farm. The blend of locally grown carrots, warming spices, and Thai flavors was a delightful way to celebrate the season.
And trust us it was absolutely delicious and kept us warm!
