It seems incredible that a century ago over half of Canada’s populations were farmers and today it’s down to less than 2%. The farmers of Durham Region would like you to know more about us and our way of life. Despite all the technology in the world, it’s still hard work, and no one knows better than us that Mother Nature can be a tough boss. To bridge the information gap, we have pooled our resources and provided a farm education exhibit that is available to visit your next event.

The “Why Farming Matters” trailer is packed full of static displays, integrative activities and ideas that will help you to learn more about farming and the source of your food, fibre and other products. It would make a great addition to a school fun fair, community event or festival. It may be possible to provide a livestock demonstration with the trailer. Bring a bit of the farm to your event —static displays, interactive activities, models of farm tools.
